Training For Teachers
In a dance studio setting, the focus is more often than not on the students’ and competitors’ training. Teachers want to be certain that all those attending the studio are getting the best possible training and learning all that they need to succeed or perform to the best of their abilities. Often there is something that can get easily overlooked when all the focus is placed on the students though. It can be forgotten that students are not the only ones who need to keep up the training and that teachers are in need of continuous training as well. If your instructors are not getting training, your studio and the students might be missing out on some or all of these things:
- Creativity. When teachers receive training, the possibility for more creative choreography and other ideas just keeps on growing. It is pretty easy for teachers to kind of get in a rut of sorts, but the creative juices can surely start to flow with some simple training.
- Proper Instruction. As the years pass, you know that in the dance world things change. Techniques change and styles change. If your teachers are not aware of these changes and new techniques and such, then your students might be at risk of not getting the best instruction.
- Great Teachers. What’s the difference in a good teacher and a great teacher? Well, that is obviously in the eye of the beholder, but teachers can only improve with training. Why not make your teachers the best they can be with more training?
- Plenty of Students. Now there are many reasons why students will choose one studio over another. You have to be honest with yourself and realize that yes, some students do choose based on teacher training. If your teachers are continuously growing and learning, then students will acknowledge the fact that they can also grow and learn along the way.
