For some people, it is not very often in like that they can see someone’s pure creativity and amazing talent.  It is a once in a lifetime thing to go to a museum and see an actual painting by an artist like Matisse, Picasso, or van Gogh.  It also is not everyday that people get to go to a show on Broadway to witness firsthand the impressive choreography, costuming, and song.  No, these things are more rare than they are common, and that is why it is so important to embrace the beautiful arts that you have been privileged enough to have witnessed.

Training For Teachers

Training For Teachers

In a dance studio setting, the focus is more often than not on the students’ and competitors’ training.  Teachers want to be certain that all those attending the studio are getting the best possible training and learning all that they need to succeed or perform to the best of their abilities.  Often there is something that can get easily overlooked when all the focus is placed on the students though.  It can be forgotten that students are not the only ones who need to keep up the training and that teachers are in need of continuous training as well.  If your instructors are not getting training, your studio and the students might be missing out on some or all of these things:

With Social Media

Owning and operating a dance studio, while it may be a dream job, can be like any other job and cause you to have some stress and concern throughout the day.  Sometimes it might seem that you are doing all you can to keep everyone up to date and current with all that is going on in the studio, but many are still missing out on important information.  One of the easiest ways to spread news out to all involved at your studio is to use social media.  On top of getting out the word to dancers, instructors, parents, and more, social media can also help in promoting your business and more.  So how should you be using social media to reach out at your studio?

Pointers for Pointe Shoes

Pointers for Pointe Shoes

I remember when I first signed up to take pointe along with my other dance classes.  When I went to get my new pointe shoes I remember being confused as to how I should find the best fit.  Of course the show fitter was trying to help me, but after trying on dozens of pairs I was in no mood to listen.  After my first year of pointe I finally had an idea of what I required from a shoe, but each time I had to get a new pair I still felt overwhelmed.  This can happen to a lot of girls looking for the ideal pointe shoe.

Improv Dance

Improv Dance

There is a reason that not everyone can simply doing something on a whim or just start improvising.  It is tough to do.  Conversationally it is not too difficult, but if you get put on the spot with a topic to simply speak on, it can become difficult.  Or if musicians are asked to simply create a tune instantly, it takes impressive knowledge and skill to do that.  The same can be said for a dancer who can turn on a song and just simply dance.
